Welcome To Our Website!
We are a friendly society with about 180 members. If you are interested in joining Ely Decorative and Fine Arts Society (DFAS) please contact Sue Holgate, Secretary, on 01353 668438 or email: sueholgate@hotmail.co.uk or come along to one of our events, where you will receive a warm welcome.
Our meetings start at 7.30pm on the third Thursday of the month for nine months of the membership year. (We don't meet in July, August or December). At these meetings we have lectures on a wide variety of arts related topics by expert speakers approved by the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies.
Meetings are usually held at the Hayward Theatre, which is part of The King's School in Ely. Occasionally we use Moreby Hall, also part of the school. Members will be notified in advance and this website will confirm arrangements.
- Parking: there are some spaces within the grounds of The King's School close to the Hayward Theatre or there are some free places in the street or Barton Road public car park.
- If you use SatNav the postcode for the school is: CB7 4DB
- Guests may come along and we suggest a £7 voluntary donation. (Meetings are included in the membership fee).
- Meetings start promptly at 7.30pm and lectures usually last for 1 hour.
- Coffee and home-made biscuits are served immediately after each talk at no extra cost. This provides an opportunity to meet the Committee or get to know members in an informal setting.
In addition to our meetings we organize several visits by coach each year plus special interest days, which comprise 3 lectures enabling a subject to be gone into in much more depth. The cost of these is additional to the membership fee and is made clear on the booking form. (Members benefit from a reduction of £2 on the cost of tickets). For the special interest days lunch and refreshments are included.
Please see the Events page for a calendar giving details of meetings and other events as well as a location map.
